I see my work as a diary. Every painting records emotions from different memories. My paintings remind me of specific places, persons and times. For instance, the time when it snows in Chicago reminds me of the physical distance between myself
and my family in Thailand, whom I have not seen for a long time.
Furthermore, memories always cause very powerful emotions. I use my personal experiences to create forms and shapes. Colors are from atmospheres and surrounding places where I have visited.
In addition, being a Buddhist, I believe that life is repetitive not only having happy moments but also having many unhappy memories. I repeat forms and shapes as the way of meditation to understand the existence of life. The method of paper cutting gives me the ability to go beyond the limitation of brushes. This additional process is integral to the completion of the work.

Artist Statement
